Paintalicious

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

I recently Stumbled across my new favourite art blog Paintalicious - straight into my Google reader it went. I’ve enjoyed checking out the work of every single one of the artists they list and look forward to browsing past posts.

From their “About” page:

Paintalicious is a blogzine of exciting contemporary art, designed to make your day a little more esthetically pleasing: by promoting artists and the arts. Painting, photography, sculpture and Illustration will be just a few of the media examined by Paintalicious. But look out for urban art, fashion, design, pop culture, and of course my own art thrown into the mix. Your daily dose of paintalicious will give you a little something to look at with your eyes, and maybe even your mind.”

Plenty of Fish in the Sea that is

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Question - which website is run by a single person (actually, it sounds like he’s recently got his first employee), earns $30k a day ($10 millski a year) and boasts 500,000 unique log-ins per day?

Er…..that would be Plenty of Fish, a leading online dating service run by Markus Frind, that looks to do for dating what Craigslist did for classified advertising.

Advent Cleaver Treats

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

From today’s Time’s online, the advent calendar that features a serial killer, clutching a meat cleaver, ready to chop up kids skating on the frozen river. The man isn’t just any old serial killer, he’s identified as Fritz Haarmann (name spelled incorrectly by the Times) who killed 24 people in Hanover after the First World War.

Cleaver Man

I can’t decide whether or not I agree that it should be pulled from shops. Historically accurate - yes. Tasteful? Er….

Either way, it makes a great image-based question for a pub quiz.
